Welcome to Trantwood Elementary, home of the Cardinals. The mission of Trantwood Elementary School, in cooperation with family and community, is to develop the potential of every student through successful learning experiences in a supportive environment so that each shall be a contributing member of our ever-changing world.

True to its mission, Trantwood Elementary has created and sustained a child-friendly atmosphere, steeped in traditions, yet receptive to new ideas. Trantwood Elementary celebrated its first fifty years during the 2012 -2013 school year. Those fifty years were filled with actively engaged children, dedicated teachers and staff, and supportive families. As principal, I am humbled to follow the outstanding principals who helped create this energizing learning environment.

Along with Mrs. Karen M. Lewis, our assistant principal, we will ensure Trantwood Elementary maintains its focus on educating the whole child. Teachers make every effort to understand, encourage and challenge every student, and Mrs. Karen M. Lewis and I support their efforts. The art, music and physical education programs enhance classroom experiences as well as foster an appreciation of the fine and performing arts. Because the effective use of technology is a school-wide focus, your child will have opportunities to share varied and creative uses of instructional technology with their parents and siblings.

Thank you for entrusting your children to us. We know that they are your hearts and we will work alongside you to nurture and develop their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
